On June 28th, Greater Essex Counseling Services, in partnership with the City of Orange Health Department, hosted a Narcan Education & Community Resources Day at Military Park on Main Street in Orange, NJ.
Greater Essex Counseling Services is a co-occurring treatment facility located in Newark, NJ, specializing in substance use and mental health services. Through ongoing collaboration with City of Orange officials, the organization has continuously supported Orange residents through various community-focused initiatives.
The event featured over 15 vendors offering a wide range of resources. University Hospital’s EMS team provided hands-on Narcan and CPR training, teaching participants how to recognize and respond to overdose emergencies and potentially saving lives. All attendees received free Narcan kits along with vital information on identifying signs of substance use and mental health challenges.
The event was also supported by Councilmember At-Large Weldon Montague III and Council President, At-Large Councilmember Adrienne Wooten, who joined in showing their commitment to the well-being of Orange residents.
